PRESIDENT'S REPORT
October 5, 2008
It is difficult to prepare a President’s Report because so many of our activities and events involve the Federation’s various committees and chairmen. We believe that it’s more important for them to present this information since the accomplishments rightly belong to them.
To begin with our report, we want to congratulate General Chairmen, Clyde and Judy Miles and their Convention Committee, Caller/Cuer Staff and Volunteers for the exceptional job presenting an outstanding State Convention at Pittsburgh..
It is a pleasure to report that more people have expressed interest in becoming involved in both the State Federation and the Convention activities. We believe that the enjoyment and fun dancers had at the State Convention, held in Pittsburgh, was instrumental in this interest.
We are pleased to report that we now have a new Membership Committee Chairmen, Jerry and Nancy Beckner from the Whirly Birds Club; a new Showcase of Ideas Committee Chairmen, John and Min Martin also from the Whirly Birds Club. The Executive Board has appointed Barrett and Donna Earnest as 2ND Vice President’s of the Federation, to fill the vacancy of that office. We are currently trying to entice an individual to serve as Historian. There is still a vacancy as a Photographer.
We want to express our thanks and appreciation to Ione Hammaker and her late husband Cy for serving as past Membership Chairmen. Also, we thank Bob and Janet Wilson for serving as past Showcase of Ideas Chairmen.
Included in the meeting agenda we will be addressing proposals for incentive programs that will offer grant assistance to our local Club and Regional Members. One program is designed to offer partial matching funding for promotional expenses to existing and new clubs. Another program will offer grant funding to assist new Callers/Cuers for expenses towards tuition, room, and board and equipment. And the third program will provide a cash reward to Clubs that graduate new dancers. Plans are underway to hold our 2nd Annual Farm Show Exhibit, at the Harrisburg Farm Show, January 10-17, 2009. Your support is needed to assist in scheduling time during this period to man the vendor booth.
We believe that these support programs, along with the activities and events, the Federation is providing it’s members, will project a positive image of our organization
Hopefully, more dancers will decide to become involved with the State Federation activities and become members.
